Northwestern University
Lynn van Olst currently serves as a post-doctoral researcher in the laboratory of Dr. David Gate at Northwestern University, Chicago. Her research work primarily centers around the immunological underpinnings of neurodegenerative conditions, including Alzheimer's disease and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis. A significant facet of her research involves delving into the mechanisms of amyloid removal, with a specific focus on clinical samples. Prior to her post-doctoral appointment, Dr. van Olst earned her doctorate cum laude from Amsterdam UMC. Her Ph.D. project was a collaborative endeavor supervised by Prof. Elga de Vries of the Department of Molecular Cell Biology and Immunology, along with Prof. Wiesje van der Flier and Prof. Charlotte Teunissen, both esteemed members at the Alzheimercentrum Amsterdam. During her Ph.D. tenure, Dr. van Olst undertook an in-depth exploration of microglial behavior with respect to aging, Alzheimer's disease, and multiple sclerosis. In addition, she made significant strides in her investigation of the peripheral immunological shifts accompanying these neurodegenerative conditions.
