Andrea Itano holds a PhD in Immunology from the University of California, Berkeley, and completed post-doctoral training as an Irvington Institute fellow at the University of Minnesota. After her academic training, she joined Amgen in Thousand Oaks, CA, and continued her career in inflammation drug discovery and development at Roche and GlaxoSmithKline. Andrea moved to the Boston area in 2012, and has been Head of Research at Evelo Biosciences in Cambridge since 2017. With her team, Andrea is advancing clinical programs using orally-delivered commensal bacterial and their extracellular vesicles for the treatment of peripheral inflammatory diseases such as psoriasis.
