Dr. Xin Chen is a post-doctoral scholar at the Stanford School of Medicine. Dr. Chen's journey to becoming an immunologist began with her undergraduate studies in biology at Case Western Reserve University, where she discovered her passion for understanding the intricacies of the immune system. She went on to earn a Ph.D. in immunology from Jackson Laboratory/UConn Health, where she developed a genetic editing technology on primary T cells and studied the effects of glucose metabolism on different T cell subsets. Today, as a post-doctoral scholar at Stanford, Dr. Chen is continuing to push the boundaries of what we know about the immune system. Her current research focuses on understanding the mechanisms of regulatory T cell subsets towards autoimmune responses in genetically modified human organoids. Her work has the potential to improve our understanding of self-tolerance mechanisms in humans and lead to new therapies for autoimmune diseases. In addition, Dr. Chen is investigating the immune response in Post-Treatment Lyme Disease Syndrome (PTLD), a chronic condition that affects patients who have received treatment for Lyme disease. Her research aims to identify the underlying mechanisms of PTLD and develop new therapies to treat this debilitating condition.
